Cox Increases Internet Speeds on Most Popular Tier by Nearly 70 Percent
Preferred tier increases download speeds up to 250 Mbps at no additional charge

ATLANTA – March 29, 2022 – Customers of Cox Communications’ most popular service tier can now enjoy speeds up to 66.7 percent faster at no extra charge. To enjoy these increased download speeds – from 150 Mbps to 250 Mbps – eligible customers just need to reset their modems.

“As families rely more and more on fast internet speeds to power through their virtual work, online learning and a growing variety of digital entertainment, we are committed to helping them make the most of their day and stay connected to the people and projects they care about most,” said Len Barlik, EVP and chief technology officer at Cox. “We continue to make investments in our network and increase speeds across all tiers of service to meet the diverse needs of our customers and provide them with ability to keep all their devices connected simultaneously in their homes.”

Existing Preferred tier customers can enjoy increased speeds with a quick reset of their modem. The new faster speed would allow for the ability to stream 10 4K movies simultaneously. Additionally, customers can download:

  • An entire HD movie in less than a minute
  • 10 iPad games in 13 seconds
  • An entire music album in less than 6 seconds
  • 15 songs from iTunes in 4 seconds
