Ross Nelson

Ross Nelson is senior vice president and region manager for Cox Communications’ Northeast region.  He has been with the company since 2000 and recently earned the position leading one of Cox’s six regional markets. Nelson is based at the Northeast region’s headquarters in West Warwick, RI and oversees the company’s Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Ohio markets.

 

Nelson joined the Northeast leadership team in 2014 and now leads the regional senior team with direct supervision over field-based functions and an employee base of nearly 1,100 employees.  Nelson also serves as the liaison to Cox Communications’ headquarters in Atlanta, GA.

 

Before taking the helm as region manager, Nelson served as the vice president of Cox Business Northeast, a role he held since 2014. Here he was instrumental in ensuring Cox Business delivered cutting-edge technology services to business customers across the company’s Northeast footprint.  Prior to that, Nelson began his sales career in telecommunications with MCI in 1990, and then moved on to holding major sales account roles for AT&T and TCG.  He was in sales leadership with PaeTec Communications prior to joining Cox Business. He joined Cox Business as director of sales in 2000.

 

Nelson is an active member of numerous community boards, including the Greenwood Credit Union, Junior Achievement of Rhode Island Executive Council, Pawtucket Foundation, Northern RI Chamber of Commerce, Roger Williams University Gabelli School of Business, RIHub’s Venture Mentoring Services and Cox Charities. Nelson was also instrumental in launching Get Started RI, Rhode Island’s premier startup competition. 

 

Nelson is a 1988 graduate from Bryant University and a 2006 graduate from Leadership Rhode Island, and he and his wife Ceri have three daughters and one grandchild.
