Warner Robins, GA – Cox Communications today announced that it has launched its gigabit Internet service for residential customers in Middle Georgia. Marketed under the brand name “G1GABLASTSM,” Cox will offer speeds 100 times faster than the average speed in the U.S. today.
Cox announced the expanded availability of residential gigabit Internet speeds at a special event at the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce in Warner Robins, home the first neighborhood in the state to receive Cox’s new service, Tiffany Kensington.
“We are excited about our roadmap to offer gigabit speeds to all of our residential customers,” said Lynn Murphey, Cox’s Middle Georgia market vice president. “We are deploying new technology and infrastructure that will offer our customers the choice of gigabit speeds in all markets we serve.”
In addition to the Tiffany Kensington subdivision in Houston County, Cox’s gigabit Internet service is also available at South Bend in Bonaire, and will be available as additional properties will be coming online with gigabit services in the near future.
Cox has been deploying gigabit speeds to businesses for more than a decade, and the company will offer residential gigabit speeds in all of its markets by the end of 2016. The company has already launched G1GABLAST service in parts of the Phoenix, Arizona and Orange County, California areas, as-well-as Las Vegas, Baton Rouge and Omaha.
Also today, Cox announced an increase in the speeds of the Premiere and Ultimate high speed Internet packages as well. Effective tomorrow, April 6, Cox Ultimate customers will see maximum download speeds increase from 200 mega bites per second to 300 mega bites per second, and Premiere customers will go from 100 to 150 mega bites per second.
