Cox Communications Offers Access To Nation's Largest WiFi Network
Cox High Speed Internet customers can access nearly 150,000 indoor and outdoor WiFi hotspots in cities across the U.S.

ATLANTA, Aug. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications announced today that customers with its Preferred, Premier or Ultimate High Speed Internet service now have access to the nation's largest WiFi network made possible by a collaboration of cable companies across the country, called CableWiFi. The hotspots are strategically located in high-traffic areas such as restaurants, malls, sports arenas, parks and beaches in cities like Washington D.C., Boston, Richmond, Philadelphia and San Francisco.

"Cox recognizes that our customers want quick access to information and entertainment anytime, anywhere.  That's why we are committed to delivering a fast, reliable connection to the Internet when and where our customers need it," said Len Barlik, executive vice president and chief product officer. "Not only are we providing our customers access to nearly 150,000 WiFi hotspots throughout the country, we are also making it convenient and simple for customers to locate and logon to these hotspots."

Cox offers multiple ways to find a WiFi hotspot.  Customers who are already in a WiFi hotspot can look for the "CoxWiFi" or "CableWiFi" network name on their WiFi-enabled devices, and use their Cox username and password to log into the hotspot.  Or, Cox customers who are looking for WiFi access can go to www.cox.com/hotspots and enter their current location to find nearby hotspots.  Icons on the map indicate whether the hotspots are inside or outside, so there are no surprises when customers arrive at the hotspot location.  Users can also click on a WiFi icon on the map and immediately access directions to or from the specific WiFi hotspot address.  Once a user has logged into a CableWiFi hotspot, his or her wireless device will automatically recognize and logon to other CableWiFi hotspots for 180 days.

More hotspots are expected to be added before the end of the year as the integration with other cable operators continues, adding major business and travel destinations such as Los Angeles and New York City to the list of cities available to eligible Cox customers.
