Cox Offers Personal TV Recommendations With Latest Version Of Trio Program Guide(sm)
New Guide Delivers Customized Viewing at User Level, Enhanced Navigation and More Recording Options
Trio Program Guide

ATLANTA - Cox Communications has announced enhancements to its premium TV product, Cox Advanced TV Plus, with an upgrade to the Trio Program Guide.  The enhanced Trio Guide will allow customers to:

o    Receive personal recommendations for up to eight users in a household, based on the movies and shows they already love to watch

o    Pause live TV from any TV in the Whole Home DVR network

o    Navigate TV Listings faster and easier with additional time slots

Cox the first U.S. multichannel video operator to offer individualized recommendations for video on the television.

The updated Trio Program Guide debuted in select Cox markets in late November and will be deployed to Cox’s entire footprint by the end of this month. The upgrade is free and seamless to existing Cox Advanced TV Plus customers.

“We are making significant investments in our video experience based on customer and enhanced usability insights,” said Len Barlik, Cox Communications executive vice president of product management and development.  “Customers want their viewing experiences to reflect their personal interests. Our new video products and services take their experience to the next level.”

The updated Trio guide features the ability for customers to receive personalized recommendations for programs based on the customers’ viewing habits.  Using a sophisticated technology developed in collaboration with ThinkAnalytics, the guide analyzes individual viewing patterns and preferences, providing users recommendations that match their own viewing habits.  Users have the option to “like”, “dislike,” or “suspend”, further improving the recommendations they receive.  Recommendations can be customized for up to eight unique users in a home for a personalized viewing experience.

“Cox’s Trio Program Guide sets a new bar for live and personalized TV recommendations in the U.S.,” said Peter Docherty, CTO of ThinkAnalytics.  “ThinkAnalytics Intelligent Navigation brings together live TV, VOD, and DVR viewing histories to provide recommendations that are truly personalized.  We’re very proud to partner with Cox on this groundbreaking innovation.”

In addition to the personalized recommendations, the Trio guide features enhanced navigation to make content browsing even easier.  Partnering with Cisco, Cox developed the guide with a larger view of the TV Listings expanding from three to five time slots.  Users are able to see more of the programs scheduled to air on a Trio single screen.  Also, users can pause live TV in real time from any TV on the Whole Home DVR network.  More recording options have been added including the ability to replay a scene in slow motion or rewind and fast forward frame-by-frame.

"As a continuation of our role as prime integrator for the Cox Trio platform, we are excited to be working with third parties like Think Analytics to enable a world class experience for Cox subscribers,” said Nick Thexton, chief technology officer, Service Provider Video Technology Group, Cisco.  “In our role as professional services partner, we are proud to be supporting Cox with the development of a rapidly evolving technology platform that ensures a personalized viewing experience, bringing relevant content closer to the viewer."
