Cox Promotes Leigh Woisard to Lead National Public Affairs Team

ATLANTA – Cox announced today that it has promoted veteran public affairs executive Leigh Woisard to direct the company’s internal communications, media relations, product public relations, crisis communications and corporate social responsibility initiatives. In her role as vice president of public affairs, Woisard will also serve as chief communications counsel to Cox’s senior executives, reporting to Leo Brennan, executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Woisard has been part of the Cox team for more than 10 years, starting her career in New England as manager of media relations. She later oversaw employee communications, media relations and charitable giving as director of public relations in New England and most recently as vice president of public affairs for Cox Virginia.  During this role, she was instrumental in shaping the communications strategy for Cox’s Northern Virginia, Roanoke and Hampton Roads systems.

“The role of public affairs is more critical than ever - as the industry and technology rapidly shifts, customers, key external influencers and employees expect timely and accurate information, delivered via a combination of traditional and new media,” said Leo Brennan, executive vice president and chief operating officer. “With a track record of building and leading high-performing teams that deliver results aligned with business goals, Leigh is well-suited for this position.”

Woisard is an active board member and volunteer for many non-profits and professional organizations including the Public Relations Society of America, Women in Cable Telecommunications, Association of Cable Communicators and the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. She is a recipient of the Public Relations Society's Silver Anvil Award, the industry's most prestigious national honor. Woisard holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and public relations from the University of Rhode Island and a master’s degree in communications management from Syracuse University's Newhouse School.
