ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 29, 2003--Cox Communications (NYSE: COX) today celebrated its receipt of PC Magazine's Readers' Choice Award for its Cox High Speed Internet (CHSI) service. Cox is the only broadband ISP to receive the highest grade of an "A+" in the survey this year, scoring "significantly higher than average" in every category. The PC Magazine survey was based on responses by nearly 10,000 broadband users, including satellite and fixed wireless customers as well as cable and DSL.

"We are thrilled to see that PC Magazine readers who subscribe to Cox High Speed Internet recognized the value of our service with positive remarks in this survey," said David Pugliese, Cox's vice president of product marketing and management. "This simply reinforces the fact that we deliver the best mix of speed, reliability and value in today's marketplace."

The PC Magazine reader survey asked participants roughly twenty questions about their experience with their Internet Service Provider and the magazine received a statistically significant number of responses for nineteen broadband ISPs that were included in the final report. PC Magazine evaluated the answers to eight satisfaction-related questions about each ISP -- overall satisfaction, rates, customer support, technical support, connection speed, connection reliability, email service, and likelihood to recommend. The magazine made an assessment of "significantly better than average," "average," and "significantly below average" for each question. With optimum cumulative performance on each of the eight criteria, Cox was the only broadband ISP to be graded so well on all factors.

Cox's success as an Internet service provider is bearing out in impressive growth figures. In the second quarter alone, the company added 112,000 high-speed Internet customers, increasing its penetration to seventeen percent of data-ready homes passed. Cox's customer research shows that nine out of ten Cox customers say that Cox High Speed Internet is better than their previous ISP in terms of speed, while eight out of ten say that CHSI is more reliable than their previous service, and two out of three customers say that Cox is a better value for the money.

Pugliese adds, "Sixty percent of our high-speed Internet customers say they have recommended Cox High Speed Internet to friends or relatives, while another thirty-one percent indicate that they are likely to do so. Word-of-mouth is the best kind of endorsement we can ask for, and we're exceptionally pleased that our customers extol the value of Cox High Speed Internet when asked by PC Magazine."
