Chris Boesl Promoted to Director of Geospatial Information Systems Technology for Cox Communications

ATLANTA – The promotion of Chris Boesl to Director of Geospatial Information Systems Technology for Cox Communications Inc. was announced today by Dick Mueller, Vice President of Network Planning, Engineering and Operations.

Boesl will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of Cox's Geospatial Network Information System (GNIS) program. He will work closely with various Cox departments and vendors to monitor, map and document the Cox network using geospatial information systems (GIS).

In making the announcement, Mueller said: “GNIS will play a vital role in providing us with a true geographic representation of our outside plant inventory. It will allow us to enhance our disaster recovery capabilities and will create new efficiencies in our asset management process. Chris has been an integral part of our efforts to study and determine the viability of this technology and is the right person to build this program.”

Boesl joined Cox in 1996 as Manager of GIS Technology. Previously he served as Senior Staff Supervisor for Intergraph Corporation.

Boesl holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia and a master's degree in information systems from Kennesaw State University.
