Cox Communications Introduces New Premium Access Pass
Best of the Web Zone and Sports Zone now available to Cox High Speed Internet customers in select markets

ATLANTA, GA – Cox Communications introduced a dynamic new Internet experience to the majority of its customers today with the launch of Premium Access Pass. This new service provides access to two premium content packages--Best of the Web Zone and Sports Zone—that offer the most comprehensive subscription-based online content available at a discount for Cox High Speed Internet customers in select markets.

“These valuable online resources are packaged together at significant savings over purchasing the subscriptions individually,” said Steve Gorman, Vice President of High Speed Internet for Cox Communications. “Premium Access Pass is a natural fit for Cox High Speed Internet, as our fast, always-on connection can quickly download the vibrant video, audio and gaming content offered by these packages.”

Premium Access Pass will be launched in a phased approach across Cox markets in the coming months. The Best of the Web Zone premium package is available to Cox High Speed Internet customers for $7.95 per month – a savings of over $25 versus regular subscription pricing. Best of the Web Zone provides content to the most popular family-friendly content sites on the net today, including:

  • AmericanGreetings.com: With more than 8,000 greeting cards to create and print at home, users can choose from thousands of eCards, printable greetings and projects, online invitations and more. AmericanGreetings.com also offers a reminder service to alert users of birthdays, holidays and other important dates as well as an address book to store the email addresses of family and friends
  • Encyclopaedia Britannica Online®: Provides users with unlimited access to the full, updated 32-volume Encyclopaedia Britannica, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate® Dictionary and Thesaurus and more – all in an advertising-free environment
  • Shockwave.com GameBlast™: Offers access to a collection of more than 200 premium games, including Collapse, Wild Card Football and Nothin' But Net 3D Basketball. Each game offers premium features such as unlimited, uninterrupted play, extra levels and full-screen play
  • The Weather Channel: Choose a location anywhere in the United States and access the video or text versions of the local weather forecasts, including the local 5-day forecast. The site also features Extreme Weather, featuring video clips of key global weather events including expert analysis and forecasting from The Weather Channel and Weather Archives and provides a searchable video database of historical storms
  • FOX Sports: Brings the power of FOX Sports and the regional interest of FOX Sports Net to interactive media. Provides subscribers with unlimited and exclusive access to unique sports news video-direct from satellite. Highlights include clips from over 30 new sports videos per day and popular Fox Sports TV shows including: The Best Damn Sports Show Period, Beyond the Glory and You Gotta See This!

The Sports Zone premium package is available to Cox High Speed Internet customers for $9.95 per month – a savings of over $35 a month versus regular subscription pricing. The Sports Zone includes access to the most popular websites for the avid sports fan, including:

  • NASCAR.com TrackPass: Users can follow their favorite driver with PitCommand, Live Leaderboard and RaceDay Scanner. Includes in-car audio and Multimedia On Demand
  • MLB.com: The most comprehensive Major League Baseball resource on the Internet, MLB.com offers fans complete baseball information, including up-to-date statistics, game summaries, and live and archived radio broadcasts of every game, live and archived video webcasts of entire games, and hosted post-game video highlight shows
  • SportingNews: The number one web site for Fantasy Sports games, news and information. Provides subscribers the opportunity to draft and manage their own fantasy football and baseball team and compete for the championship
  • Rivals.com: Delivers the definitive inside scoop on the world of college recruiting from its more than 200 member team of experts, writers and reporters. Rivals.com provides exclusive team-specific coverage as well as the ultimate fan experience.
  • FOX Sports: Brings the power of FOX Sports and the regional interest of FOX Sports Net to interactive media. Provides subscribers with unlimited and exclusive access to unique sports news video-direct from satellite. Highlights include clips from over 30 new sports videos per day and popular Fox Sports TV shows including: The Best Damn Sports Show Period, Beyond the Glory and You Gotta See This!

Cox customers can choose to subscribe to both the Best of the Web and the Sports Zone packages for $16.90 per month. The Premium Access Passes are conveniently included in the customer's Cox monthly bill, and no long-term obligations are required.

Cox chose Synacor to develop and power the new bundled Best of the Web Zone and Sports Zone subscription services. Synacor's software platform supports the integration of a variety of premium services accessible via a single user-ID, password and interface. The single sign-on environment makes it convenient for customers to access their Cox WebMail and premium content.
