COX COMMUNICATIONS BRINGS FAMILIES TOGETHER FOR A FAMILY FUN NIGHT OF THRILLS AND CHILLS, COURTESY OF THE NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL
Atlanta, GA

ATLANTA - On Sunday, July 16th, Cox Communications is encouraging families to chill out this summer and spend some quality time together with Cox Family Fun Night, a special viewing event that brings families together for an entire night of family-friendly programming. Cox will partner with the National Geographic Channel to offer an evening of programming appropriate for all age levels featuring the thrills and chills of roller coasters. The special viewing event is available on local origination channels in participating Cox systems.

"Cable has a tremendous amount of quality programming for families to enjoy together, but busy families don't always have time to search for it, " said Ellen East, vice president of communications and public affairs. "With Family Fun Night, we make it easy by delivering an entire evening's worth of great programming on the local Cox channel. On Family Fun Night, parents don't have to worry about their children viewing something inappropriate - they can relax and enjoy an evening of family-focused entertainment. At Cox, we're proud of our commitment to helping families understand how to manage their children's access to mass media content."

Cox Family Fun Night begins Sunday with action packed entertainment brought to all Cox customers by the National Geographic Channel. Buckle up as the evening takes viewers for a wild ride with SuperCoasters, a program that dives into the science behind the high speed loops and freefalls of the country's largest roller coasters, and with MegaStructures: Ultimate Roller Coaster, which explores the challenges in building Kingda Ka, the world's fastest and tallest thrill ride. Plus, viewers will get to see an episode of the Emmy-nominated Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan.

This is the fourth installment of Cox Family Fun Night, a component of Take Charge! Smart Choices for Your Cox Digital Home, an educational campaign developed by Cox to empower parents and care givers to manage their children's access to mass media content. Launched in August 2004, the initiative strives to increase customer awareness and use of parental control and filtering tools already available on their cable and Internet services. Cox has joined forces with children's advocate and America's Most Wanted (FOX) host John Walsh to educate families nationwide about this vital issue.

Providing tools and resources that are easy to understand and implement, Take Charge! helps parents find great educational TV shows and web sites while keeping their families safe from content they find objectionable. Program components include a comprehensive web site (www.cox.com/takecharge), public service announcements from John Walsh, a free resource guide and educational presentations at Family Fairs, instructional workshops, PTA meetings and other venues. Take Charge! also enables parents to teach young children and teens how to stay safer online through Cox's partnership with NetSmartz®, an interactive, educational safety resource created by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
